The Cedar Valley Amateur Radio Club (WØGQ) in Cedar Rapids has expanded its regional Winlink packet mesh network, providing enhanced digital data communications for eastern Iowa.
Featuring dual-band VHF and HF packet RMS gateways, the network enables radio operators to send email messages, attachments, and emergency forms directly over amateur radio frequencies without reliance on commercial internet access.
Monthly digital training nets allow ARES operators and local agency liaisons to maintain proficiency in off-grid digital messaging during emergency activations.
